How the Daily works
- A country appearsEach round highlights one country on the map, shown in its region of the world with no name attached.
- You name itPick from the four options given. The faster you answer correctly, the bigger the speed bonus you bank.
- Your score lands on the boardYour final score is the sum of your correct answers plus the speed bonuses you earned, ranked against everyone who played the same set.
- Come back tomorrowA completely new set arrives at midnight. Play every day to build your streak and earn rewards along the way.
THE MECHANICS
How the Daily is scored
Every country in MapFiend carries its own base score, set by how well known the country is, how often it appears in popular media, how distinctive its shape is, and its population. Famous shapes pay less, obscure ones pay more, and a quick correct answer adds a speed bonus on top. There is no retry, and every player faces the same set each day, so the board stays honest. And because every set is different, yesterday's Daily, today's and tomorrow's are each their own contest.

THE BOARD
Where you land
Every Daily run is scored and ranked. Players with an account and Outpost land on the board the moment they cross the finish line, and guest players can add their name from the results screen. The day's board measures that day alone, while the Monthly and All-Time boards rank your total score across every Daily you play. Your longest streak rides along on your entry as an earned brag. It never affects your rank, but everyone can see how long you have kept the habit.

What is the MapFiend Daily?
It is one set of five to eight country outlines, identical for every player, refreshed once a day. You guess each country from its shape.
When does the Daily reset?
At midnight in your local time. A new set is waiting each morning.
Can I replay the Daily?
No. You get one attempt, which is what makes the daily leaderboard meaningful.
Is the Daily like Wordle for geography?
It scratches the same itch. One shared challenge a day, one attempt, and a score to compare with everyone else who played. Instead of a five letter word, you get five to eight country outlines.
Do I need an account to build a Daily streak?
No. Play on the same device each day and MapFiend remembers you and keeps your streak. Sign up and your streak follows your account instead, and every streak milestone you pass, from 5 days up to 365, awards a claimable Mark with Doubloons and other rewards attached.
Is it free?
Yes. MapFiend is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account required. Signing up adds your own Outpost, Avatars, Marks, Stamps, Doubloon rewards and the full leveling experience.
